Why does someone get “Ditched?”

According to Urban Dictionary, the term “ditched” means –
- To leave something that is not finished.
- To ditch a person is to evade them; most likely to run in the opposite direction.
In relationships, to ditch means to be left or abandoned by girlfriends or boyfriends. They leave or abandon their significant others because either;
a. They are bored of them.
b. They think its a nicer way to break up.
c. They are avoiding them because of something bad they did.
d. They found someone better.
e. They are annoyed of them and want to spend time with other people.
f. They want “space.”
Can also be derived from an Australian Colloquialism, Ditch is the collective noun for a group of mates. It stems from the behavior “ditching,” where an individual leaves a social situation without informing any other members of the group.
