Lash Out This Summer Season

Woman eye

By Gunner Glam

At Studio Brow, our lash services, coined Illumilash Lash Extensions, can are performed in one place; the Lash Lounge.

We thought we would share some tidbits on ways you can keep your lashes looking amazing =)

One of the pretty features of the eyes are the eyelashes. Taking care of eyelashes and maintaining them should be a routine.

– Condition your eyelash by the time you sleep. Eyelashes tend to break easily when they get dry. Make it a point to remove your eye makeup before you get to bed. Remove your mascara from an eyelashes. Put some petroleum jelly on a little cotton swab and stroke it on your eyelashes gently. Another easy way is to hold the cotton swab and allow some butterfly kisses by fluttering your lashes for some seconds. For pretty, long lashes, applying castor oil before you sleep is advised.

– To get a pretty, curled look, use an eyelash curler before applying a mascara. They always give you a natural look and when applied in the right manner, they allow no clumping of lashes.

– Make sure you coat both the top and bottom of your eyelashes. Start by coating the eyelashes slightly with a powder, as this will help hold the mascara that you will apply. make sure you don’t hold the mascara brush for long, instead, wiggle the brush to apply mascara. Apply on both top and cotton coats.

Studio Brow Presents ILLUMILASH Eyelash Extensions

Illumilash (1)By Gunner Glam

Studio Brow is here to not only give great customer care, but experience as well with each service we provide.

Are eyelash extensions something you’ve thought about?

In addition to eyebrow shaping services, such as waxing threading, we offer offers semi-permanent, synthetic lashes, coined Illumilash, to show off when going to the club, party or get together that can last up to two months with proper care and maintenance.

Studio Brow offers four degrees of Illumilash Eyelash Extensions; Natural, Lovely, Elegant and Gorgeous going on your individual style and fit.

We use a surgical grade, water-resistant adhesive to bond the extensions to your natural lashes, so you can shower, swim or exercise, worry-free.

Eyelash extensions will lengthen and thicken your lashes and also can eliminate the need for mascara.

Studio Brow’s services are performed by our own certified “Browstars” who have become licensed cosmetologists taught by experienced professionals to provide eyelash extensions.

Enhancements designed to add length, thickness and fullness to natural eyelashes, eyelash extensions may be compared to hair extensions for one’s eyelashes.

Some brief history of eyelash extensions: The Greek word for eyelash is “blepharis“. This word is often used as a root in biological terms. Kohl, a black powder (usually antimony sulfide or lead sulfide), has been worn as far back as the Bronze Age to protect and enhance lashes. In Ancient Egypt, it was used as well by the wealthy and the royal to protect their eyes from the sand, dust and bugs. Modern eye makeup includes mascara, eyeliner, eye putty and eye shadow to emphasize the eyes. The invention and use of eyelashes extensions began in 1916 when director D.W. Griffith was making his film, Intolerance. He wanted actress Seena Owen to have lashes “that brushed her cheeks, to make her eyes shine larger than life.” These first eyelash extensions were made of human hair woven through fine gauze by a local wig maker. They were then attached to Owen’s eyelashes.

Illumilash will enlighten your being by taking the beauty which is already there and bring out its shine and brighten your world.

A painless and relaxing procedure, you’ll be amazed with the results; they are virtually weightless and have an incomparable look and feel.

There is only one way to experience longer, thicker and beyond imaginable lashes and that is with ILLUMILASH!

Thanks for reading! Don’t forget to Like us on Facebook.com/Studiobrow. We’ll see you soon =)

Why Brows? Part Four

By Gunner Glam

In our latest entry about the significance of eyebrows, we thought we would share the ways eyebrows are there for protection.

Eyebrows are pretty weird when you think about them! They’re two little bands of hair growing right above our eyeballs.

The ancestors of modern people were a lot hairier, but over time, a lot of that hair was lost. Somehow our eyebrows remained. They aren’t just there for decoration.

They play a very important role in keeping moisture out of our eyes. Just like an umbrella keeps our bodies dry from the rain, our hairy eyebrows keep our eyes dry from rain or sweat. Eyebrows, just like eyelashes and eyelids, actually work to protect your eyes.

We also use our exceptionally mobile eyebrows to communicate our emotions. The position of eyebrows emphasizes expressions on the human face thus giving others an accurate picture of the individual’s mood.

Smile comes in many forms, from expressions of merriment or contentment to leers, smirks and even anger. The position of the brow, emphasized by the eyebrows, is what gives us a visual cue to what an individual is really feeling.

Thanks for reading.

Why Brows? Part Two

By Gunner Glam

In our series of explaining the significance of eyebrows, we thought we would share how important it is to have a well-groomed pair.

From an article on Yahoo written by The Pen, Brows are the first thing people will notice about your face, even if it’s subconsciously. A thick heavy brow will bring attention to just the brows. While a pencil thin brow will take attention off of the top half of the face and onto the lower part.

The place that you want people to focus should always be the eyes themselves, because they are the windows to your soul. Having a well groomed brow will do just that, bringing the attention to your eyes and serving as a frame for the entire face.

Even if you’re not big on makeup, maintaining your brows is essential. Having an unkempt brow is just out of the question. A brow that has too many stray hairs out of the natural arch line can leave its owner looking as if they don’t care about how they look, or have just given up.

A naturally thick bushy brow that’s left in its natural state can make even the most feminine face look masculine. And the dreaded uni-brow just leaves everyone looking frightful.

On the flip side, the thin overly arched brow of the past few years is just as awful a makeup crime. It can make a woman look outdated and washed out especially if her brows are blonde or light brown.

It’s almost a requirement that she wears makeup with that kind of brow, because the look is quite severe and will age every wearer, since people’s brows naturally thin as they get older.

The brow that is in now, falls somewhere in between the pencil thin brow and the one nature gave you. It follows your natural arch instead of carving out a whole new one, and takes away those stray hairs that grow past it. It’s simple and not as high maintenance as the overly arched brow.

It will also frame your face the best, because the arch you were born with is right will define your features best. Another perk to this brow is that you can run out of the house with no makeup on and still look presentable and fresh.

The Perks of Studio Brow’s Services

By GUNNER GLAM

In addition to being a company involved in mass media and marketing, athlete sponsorship and the ultimate customer experience, Studio Brow offers services exclusively for the face.

We thought we would share some benefits of ones we offer.

Brow Waxing

  • Properly waxed brows can highlight the eyes as a gorgeous focal point.
  • A time saver.
  • Applying wax to the brows removes dead skin cells and fine tiny hairs.
  • No razor burns.
  • Limits the chances of having an ingrown hair.

Brow Threading

  • Is becoming more prevalent in the United States  and readily accessible and some people are starting to turn to eyebrow threading as their preferred method of hair removal.
  • Is less painful.
  • Does not irritate the skin much and the little discomfort can be eased using a good, cold cream.
  • Effectively removes short hair also.
  • Skin redness caused by the method is minimal and it subsides after a while.

Lash Extensions

  • Semi-permanent eyelashes that last up to two months with touch-ups.
  • Water resistant so you can swim, shower and exercise worry-free.
  • Lengthens and thickens without the need for mascara.
  • Painless, relaxing procedure.
  • Weightless, with a natural look and feel.

Lash Tinting

  • Basically having your lashes dyed to make them stand out.
  • Tint and peroxide are traditionally used to achieve this.
  • A great alternative to mascara especially if you have allergies.
  • You will also notice once they have been done, they will look darker and show the true length.
  • It doesn’t make your lashes longer, it just colors them which gives the appearance as if you were wearing makeup.

Too Much of Anything is Never Good

By GUNNER GLAM

The only addition to natural beauty is cosmetics which help accent the eyes, lips and cheeks. However, when there is too much it, it can make someone rather unsightly than pretty.

According Allure, a beauty web site, just as certain men’s grooming missteps make people cringe—think frosty guylights and overplucked eyebrows—females (sometimes) make hair, makeup and skin-care choices guys hate. These are the top polled beauty buzzkills to avoid.

Fragrance Overload
If you’re anything like us, you’ve been misting on (and misting on…) the new Prada Candy perfume since the day it landed on your vanity. But if your boyfriend is anything like ours, he’ll tell you that too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

Here are the numbers you need to know: No more than three sprays for an eau de parfum, four for an eau de toilette.

Caked-on Foundation
Painting layers of foundation, tinted moisturizer, concealer and powder on your face will rub off on your collar…and his.

Stick with a lightweight foundation, remove any obvious makeup with a damp sponge, and dab concealer just over blemishes or redness. Men—and their dry-cleaning bills—will thank you.

Overdone Eyelashes
When poorly done, the Kardashian effect can turn into the spidery effect. We’re talking clumpy, flaky and otherwise arachnid-esque. A few falsies applied to the outer corners make your eyes look wide, innocent and sexy, without looking like they could walk on their own.

Dry Skin
There may be nothing less sexy than dry legs, rough elbows and chapped everything.

Fake hot, humid, summery skin by slathering on body lotion (we love Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30) as soon as you step out of the shower. He won’t be able to keep his hands off you.

A Sloppy Shave
Nothing says “I’ve given up” as succinctly as leg stubble. Shave at night for the most precise finish (your legs swell as you sleep, so you’ll miss hairs if you shave in the morning) and use a new blade. Doing so will also help you avoid those annoying red razor bumps.

Yellow-Tinged Teeth
Who wants to kiss someone with graying or yellowing teeth? For a bright, white, healthy-looking smile, use a treatment like Luster Now! Instant Whitening Toothpaste. True to its name, it works—immediately.

Sticky Lip Gloss
There are lip glosses that moisturize with a subtle sheen, and there are those that are so sticky they could glue together broken glass. Keep your lips kissable with a gloss like Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Pur—it lasts for hours and isn’t the least bit sticky.

Orangy Self-Tanner
A subtle bronze glow is gorgeous, but one coat too many and you’re Snooki. Play it safe and go for one that’s just a shade darker than your natural skin-tone. If you’re worried about making a mistake, dilute self-tanner with moisturizer or try a gradual tanning lotion, such as Jergens Natural Glow Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer.

Stiff Hair
No man is going to be able to run his fingers through your hair if it’s knotted in a bun, pulled into a twist, or otherwise high-maintenance-looking. Go for a more approachable hairstyle, like easy waves, half up or a pretty ponytail.

Smoky-Eye Overload
It starts off innocently enough: It’s just you, an eye-shadow palette, and a mirror. But things can get ugly fast when heavy, dark eyeshadows are piled on top of each other.

Create a subtle, sexy smoky eye by slightly smudging black eyeliner along the rims of your eyes.

Bold Lipstick
That one’s too bright, that one’s too dark—when it comes to lipstick shades, men are like Goldilocks. And it’s hard to blame them when every kiss carries the risk of clown face.

Keep lips simple with a neutral pink lipstick, such as Burberry Beauty Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick in Nude Rose or L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nurturing and Protective Lipcolour in Fairest Nude.

Hair Add-Ins
Guys like us to keep things pretty simple. Keep accessories on your handbag and jewelry, and leave the feathers, extensions, tinsel, bells and whistles to Ke$ha and reality-TV celebrities.

Neon, Dark and Patterned Manicures
If your manicure is black, glittery, glows in the dark or is any combination thereof, men are intimidated. Or just kind of freaked out.

Play it safe with a timeless red like Nars in Dovima or a pale neutral like Essie in Mademoiselle.

Most Basic Beautiful

By Gunner Glam

Without having to spend a fortune on makeup, clothes or accessories, learning the style which makes you look beautiful in absence everything is very important.

Studio Brow would like to share some suggestions according to the web site, Overall Beauty.

  • Got to get ready fast after-work that dinner party or date? Here’s how to get your makeup done quickly.

1- Strengthen eye shadow, a little darker at outer corner and on eyebrow bone.
2- Add a touch of iridescence, if desired.
3- Line under bottom eyelashes with brown or black pencil. Smudge with cotton swab for a smoky eye.
4- Add extra coat of mascara.
5- Add a touch of shimmer to your lips.
6- Strengthen lower lip pout by using a darker lip pencil in the center of lower lip line – All this can be down after work in the bathroom if need be. If you are not the only one that is, in the bathroom. If so then keep at your desk a good size hand mirror, better still the type with lights.

  • If you’re not happy with the texture of your hair, switch shampoos. Sometimes a slight difference in ingredients will change the way your hair looks.
  • The job of foundation is to create a smooth, flawless, clear palette upon which you design and emphasize your best features.
  • When people look at you, where do you want them to focus? If your best asset is your face, wear:

A good makeup job,
A great haircut,
A flattering color near your face,
Outstanding earrings,
A flattering shade of hair color.

  • A final, color-rinse will make your hair shinier!

“Self-confidence is not looking at yourself in the mirror when you’re in public.”

  • A bright red lipstick can make your teeth look yellow, but a blue-red makes them look whiter. As you hunt for that perfect red remember that tip.
  • Don’t use non-waterproof mascara on lower lashes, it smudges into your eye shadow and under-eye cream. It is sometimes better to wear a waterproof mascara on the lower lashes and a non-waterproof on your upper lashes. Waterproof mascara is hard on your lashes is worn all the time so why not wear it on just one set of lashes?
  • Always make your nails an even length by filing them down to match the  shortest one. As much as that might kill you. Short and even beats all different degrees of long. Nail Polish will help hide the fact your nails are short.
  • Makeup on the beach is just inappropriate. Like they are looking at your face, not if bath suit you been working hard on looking good in is doing its trick. Just be natural, all you really need with waterproof mascara and lip balm with sunscreen. Don’t forget your suntan lotion and be willing to ask for and offer a helping hand when need be with putting it on. True fun in the sun!
  • Nails that are not well groomed detract from your style. Keep them perfect withthe use of a emery board, hand cream, polish remover, cuticle scissors, base coat and your favorite color.

“Self-confidence is always being willing to help a friend look better.”

  • For an instant lift, highlight your hair. You can benefit with bring light to your face.
  • What we think “style” means: Your clothes look like they belong to you. Your accessories polish your look, your makeup is quietly correct; your beauty allows your personal charm to show though.
  • Eye shadow technique for every shape eye: Stroke on a light base all over the lid. Place a medium-tone shadow in the corner and drag it about one-third towards the center. Line the crease with a medium tone, blend gently and you’re done!

“Self-confidence is keeping a friend’s secret. You’ll end being better friends.”

  • When putting on eye shadow blow slightly on the brush before starting to put it on your eye lid. By doing that you can save time by not having to clean so much of it off your cheek when you are done putting it on.
  • Beauty routines that are a must! Create your own routine and stick to it!

Moisturize your face,
Rub creamy lotion on your hands and feet,
Shampoo frequently,
Get a manicure,
A pedicure,
and a brow wax (wink) to keep their shape as regularly as you can. You would be surprised how much differences it makes when you do.

  • Use your favorite choice of fragrance to change your mood, as well as that of others around you. A beautiful scent is hard to beat as a mood changer.
  • Don’t be afraid to switch products. Even though you like a particular makeup, technology, is always developing new products and one may more effective for you. Experiment. You can always go back. Who doesn’t get bored sometimes using the same product everyday and not want to change?
  • A facial is something that you deserve! It will work for you as it cleans, softens and revitalizes your skin. Its very relaxing to have someone cleanse your face.
  • A light foundation color is always a better choice than a dark one, which may just muddy your skin.
  • If you want your eyes to stand out, line the outer two-thirds of your eye, top and bottom, then smudge the lines to soften the effect. Depending the look your going for, Blues, Purples, Gold, Brown, Charcoal or your basic Black are great choices.
  • Buy only foundation with sun block. Most foundations have sun block these days anyway.
  • Always remember a great haircut eliminates bad hair days.

“Most of all, being self-confidence is being able to give away a personal beauty secret and not think twice about it.”

Nine Common Beauty Problems, Solved

By Gunner Glam

Have hair, skin or makeup problems that just cannot be solved? Studio Brow would like to share what hair expert Eva Scrivo, makeup artist Mally Roncal and dermatologist Dr. Amy Wechsler answer the most challenging beauty questions, according to According to Good Housekeeping.

Hair Expert: Eva Scrivo
Eva Scrivo, owner of Eva Scrivo salons in New York City, answers three commonly asked hair questions.

Q: Is it better for your hair to change the shampoo and conditioner you use every few months?
Only if you are unhappy with how your hair looks or feels. Hair is reactive to products in general, so changing your shampoo and conditioner can create a different effect. For example, if you want more smoothness, try a hydrating shampoo, which deposits moisturizers that close the hair cuticle. But if you are using hair care that you love, there is no reason to make a change.

Q: What are some easy tricks that will help me pick a natural-looking color for an at-home hair dye?
Match the color to your eyebrows. Your brows are always a guideline to what looks natural and what would be a complimentary base color. This works even when you are going gray, since brow hair typically doesn’t lose melanin and therefore doesn’t go gray at the same pace as the hair on your head.

Q: What’s the most universally flattering hairstyle for a woman over 40?
A side-swept bang with soft layers around the face. It softens the neck and strengthens the cheekbones. The A-symmetrical line of a long bang pushed to the side also slims the face.

Dermatologist: Dr. Amy Wechsler
New York City dermatologist Dr. Amy Wechsler answers three commonly asked skincare questions.

Q: Between a cleanser, moisturizer, night cream, and eye cream, where does it make sense to spend the big bucks?
You definitely don’t have to spend big bucks to get quality skincare! You can find lots of great options for cleansers and moisturizers at the drugstore, but if you are going to splurge on one product, consider buying a pricier antioxidant serum. A good serum requires a high concentration of antioxidants – highly effective anti-agers that boost the price – so I tell my patients this is one product that’s worth the extra bucks.

Q: Do I need to change my skincare routine seasonally?
You don’t need to change it completely, just make a few minor tweaks. For example, in winter you may need to moisturize more because dry air, central heating, and wind can dry out or chap your skin. In summer, add a toner with salicylic acid to remove the layer of dead skin cells on the surface that hold onto oil; it will prevent shine, make you look refreshed, and provide a natural glow. Look for one with no more than 0.5 percent salicylic acid to avoid over-drying your skin.

Q: Do I need to exfoliate? If so, how often and with what?
Yes, but the answer really depends on your skin type and age. Exfoliation is something you want to start in your teens, and for sure by your twenties and thirties. By the time you reach your thirties, your skin begins to thin and becomes more vulnerable to the environment. At the same time, the natural enzymes in your skin begin to remove dead skin cells less efficiently, so they hang on and prevent your skin from reflecting light. As a result, you look ashy. Start by using an exfoliating cleanser once or twice weekly. Look for ingredients like sugar, oatmeal, or small synthetic beads (all of which are found in common exfoliating products). Or, if your skin is particularly dull, flaky, or red, try a cleanser with salicylic acid, which is less irritating than other chemical exfoliators.

Makeup Expert: Mally Roncal
Makeup artist and president and creator of Mally Beauty Mally Roncal answers three commonly asked makeup questions.

Q: No matter what I do, I can’t cover up my dark under eye circles, any tricks or new products?
A good trick for camouflaging under eye darkness is to brighten the outer corners of the eyes, where we all tend to have a bit of darkness and discoloration. Apply highlighter by sweeping it in a C shape from the corner of your eyelid, to the top of your cheekbone. It really opens up the eyes.

Q: What are the top three essentials I need to have in my makeup bag?
My top three must-haves: concealer, mascara, and blush. Concealer and mascara can immediately light up your eyes, and blush will perk up your complexion. Choose cream formulas of concealer and blush, and you won’t even need to carry a brush with you. Using your fingers is the fastest and easiest application method, and the best way to help blend the product seamlessly into skin.

Q: How do I choose among the many foundation formulas out there?
Use your skin type to guide your foundation choice. For example, if your skin is oily, then opt for a powder foundation. If you have dry skin, I would recommend trying a cream foundation instead. You know that old school rule about matching your foundation to your neck? Your neck is in a perpetual shadow, so it tends to be a bit paler than the rest of your face. Instead, match your foundation to your collarbone, which is on the same plane as your face and will give you a more accurate shade!

Makeup for a Rainy Day

By Gunner Glam

Ever had an amazing time putting makeup on in the morning but step outside in the middle of a downpour just to have it all smeared? Don’t worry, Studio Brow would like to provide some tips on how to avoid ruining makeup on rainy days.

Some of the best ways are with:

  • Concealer mixed with Origins GinZing Eye Cream
  • Waterproof Mascara
  • Tinted moisturizer and powder
  • Blush
  • Lipstick (because wind plus sticky lip gloss plus hair flying all over the place equals messy)

Primer mixed with foundation is helpful in the rain, along with curled lashes, tubing mascara, blush and powder. If not, use an oil-absorbing primer.

Choose powders over crèmes. Generally, powders have a better chance of absorbing oil and moisture. Most crèmes don’t. Mineral powders really do their job on rainy days, as they are water-resistant while maintaining the kind of medium coverage that’s needed in everyday makeup.

Opt for waterproof mascara. This may be more difficult to remove than your regular mascara, but it keeps you from getting those nasty black streaks under the eyes. And while you’re at it, pick for yourself waterproof eyeliner, as well, to make sure your eye makeup stays in place.

Smallest amount

Wear the smallest amount of makeup possible if you are planning to go outdoors on rainy days. But if you have to wear eyeshadow, pat on some concealer to make the powder adhere to your lids.

Don’t forget to use waterproof mascara to prevent unsightly raccoon eyes. For blush, a cream or liquid formula is best, as long as you apply it before setting your foundation with powder. A slight swipe of powder will make the color refuse to budge, resulting in streaky cheeks.

However,  waterproof makeup should not be used on a regular basis.

Never use waterproof makeup every day. At the most, use it twice a week because prolonged use of waterproof makeup can darken your skin, especially delicate areas like your lips.

Waterproof makeup strips the skin of moisture. For instance, waterproof mascara can make eyelashes brittle and silicone can dry out your skin, so always moisturize properly and remove all traces of makeup afterwards.

Also, disregard makeup when you don’t really need it. While it sounds like common sense to avoid using makeup in places such as the beach or while doing water sports, you’ll be surprised at the number of people who insist on using mascara, concealer and blush when they know they’re going to get drenched anyway.

How to fix rain-smeared makeup

Don’t spend your entire lunch break fixing your makeup. If the rain made you look like a mess, here is what you can do for a quick cleanup:

Runny mascara – First of all, don’t forget to use waterproof mascara if the weather looks overcast. Too late for that! With your ring finger, gently wipe away the smears (it should be easy enough to remove) and pat on some concealer and pressed powder over any smears that refuse to budge.

Streaky blush – Do not attempt to fix your blush by piling on more and more powder; it’ll only make the streakiness more obvious. Instead, wipe away the original layer with tissue and start anew.

Smeared eye shadow – With a sponge, blend the smeared portions so they don’t look like weird splashes of color on your lids. Then using a brush or your fingers, lightly dot fresh eye shadow onto your lids. Try to use neutral colors like cream, brown or pale pink so any mistakes will be minimized.

Caked powder – Pat, not rub, a piece of tissue over your skin. Then with a fluffy brush, swipe powder over key areas such as your T-zone. Avoid using a used powder puff, as this might contain oil deposits.

Makeup Base

  • Beginning at the base it is worth mentioning that often the main cause of smudging is the excessive foundation use. Those who find it indispensable might still use a thin coat of it however it should be preferably water resistant. Moreover choose the right shade that’s closer to your natural skin tone.
  • Powder will prove to be the best tool to offer a slight shimmer and mask the beauty flaws at the same time. This will stick to your complexion rather than any kind of foundation. It will require a quick touch up during the day, however it guarantees the spotless effect.
  • Those who have a great complexion should totally eliminate this product of the daily makeup list, instead it is more advisable to use a concealer than to apply a sheer powder.

Eye Makeup

  • Rain immediately means waterproof mascara. Since a normal mascara would quickly smudge when in contact with humidity it is recommended to use a special formula that will resist the extreme weather conditions.
  • It is a well-known fact that these products can’t be washed off so easily. However with the use of the proper makeup removers this problem will be also ruled out.
  • Makeup artists also recommend switching the dark eye shadows with the more natural and sheer colors preferably also with a waterproof quality. The colors of the season offer endless options to look great even if the weather outside is gloomy.

Blush

  • It is a common mistake that ladies seem to commit during each monsoon season. Namely that they use a blush with an inappropriate texture. The rainy days scream for complex compositions, that’s why it is a golden rule that when sporting a monsoon-proof makeup we should choose a mousse or cream blush that can resist the impact of humidity.
  • The makeup gurus often neglect the use of blush during the fall season instead practice a smashing trick. They use a bit of lipstick you can spread with your fingernails and the effect is just as gorgeous as with the use of blush.

Lip Makeup

  • Lip gloss is the top notch no-no beauty product of the monsoon season. It might get in contact with humidity which can result in smudging and at least said unflattering look. That’s why you should rather rely on high quality lipstick that will fabulously top your makeup. There are several formulas and brands on the market that guarantee a long-lasting effect.
  • Make sure you test it beforehand in order to avoid any lip makeup accidents. You can either go for the blood red lips effect or rather for the classy and natural makeup trends. Choose the one you can pull off with great style in order to perfect your monsoon look.

The Eyebrows: Window Frames to the Soul

By Gunner Glam

Eyebrow –

  1. The bony ridge that extends over the eye.
  2.  The arch of short hairs that covers this ridge.

Idiom – Caused raised eyebrows.

Latin origin – Supercilium.

The eyebrow is an area of thick, delicate hairs above the eye that follows the shape of the lower margin of the brow ridges of some mammals, especially humans.

Their main function is to prevent sweat, water and other debris from falling down into the eye socket, but they are also important to human communication and facial expression (our favorite part).

It is not uncommon for people – women in particular – to modify their eyebrows by means of hair addition, removal, makeup or piercings.

The typical curved shape of the eyebrow, with a slant on the side, and the direction in which eyebrow hairs are pointed, ensure that moisture has a tendency to flow sideways around the eyes, along the side of the head and along the nose.

The slightly protruding brow ridges of modern humans could also still play a supporting role in this process.

Together with the brow ridges, the eyebrows also shade the eyes from sunlight.

Eyebrows also prevent debris such as dandruff and other small objects from falling into the eyes, as well as providing a more sensitive sense for detecting objects being near the eye, like small insects.

Psychological Functions

Eyebrows also have an important function in communication by strengthening expressions, such as surprise or anger.

There are makeup artists who view eyebrows as a major feature in defining the face. The eyebrows shape the human face and give definition to one’s eyes and forehead.

Depending on the shape of the eyebrows, it sometimes can cause what is known as a false facial expression, such as a person’s eyebrows shaped to seem as if the person was angry, but really isn’t.

Identification

In a study published by MIT, where subjects were asked to identify celebrities with either their eyes or their eyebrows digitally edited out, the subjects were able to recognize the celebrity 46 percent of the time with their eyebrows edited out, compared to 60 percent of the time with their eyes edited out. The findings indicate the importance of eyebrows in providing cues to an individual’s identity.

Eyebrow modification

Eyebrows are a major facial feature. Cosmetic methods, like waxing and threading, have been developed to alter the look of one’s eyebrows, whether the goal is to add or remove hair, change the color or change the position of the eyebrow.

Several options for removing hair to achieve a thinner or smaller eyebrow, or to “correct” a unibrow, including tweezing, waxing, threading and electronic tweezer.

The most common method is to use tweezers to thin out and shape the eyebrow. Waxing is becoming more popular. Lastly, there is threading eyebrows, where a cotton thread is rolled over hair to pull it out. Small scissors are sometimes used to trim the eyebrows, either with another method of hair removal or alone.

Some people wax or shave off their eyebrows and leave them bare, stencil or draw them in with eyeliner, or tattoo them on. In Western societies, it has become more common for men to pluck part of their eyebrows.

To create a fuller look, eyebrows can be cloned in an eyebrow transplant: Individual strands of the eyebrow are mimicked to create a natural-looking eyebrow of the desired shape. Eyebrow brushes and shaders are used to further define the eyebrow. A fairly recent trend in eyebrow modification is in eyebrow tinting: Permanent dye, similar hair color, is used on the eyebrow, often to darken them.

An eyebrow lift, a cosmetic surgery to raise the eyebrow, usually to create a more feminine or youthful appearance, is a new phenomenon.

They can be affected during a face lift or an eye lift. More recently, doctors inject patients’ eyebrows with botox or similar toxins to temporarily raise the eyebrow.

From the eight century, many Japanese noblewomen practiced hikimayu, shaving or plucking the eyebrow hair and painting smudge-like ones higher on the forehead. Shaving lines in eyebrows is another cosmetic alteration, more common among younger people in the 1990s and 2000s.

Eyebrows can make or break a person’s entire look, according to makeup artists and brow experts in the field.

They can make your eyes look droopy when they’re not, or make you look angry when, in fact, you’re not.

This is why it’s essential to be very cautious when grooming your brows. There is a very fine line between a perfectly shaped brow and an overly tweezed brow.

If you think about it, your brows, even when big and bushy, have very little real estate on your face. One or two plucks too many can leave you with a pretty scary shape.

Bag Trend #6: Satchel bags. Satchel bags are very comfortable. They don’t look big but can hold plenty of things. So, they are best for those of us who like to have everything for every occasion just in the bag.

Bag Trend #7: Wristlets. Wristlets, which are perfect for women who often lose things, will be very trendy during Spring/ Summer 2012. They come in a variety of designs and tones.

Bag Trend #8: Totes and weekend bags. Huge bags will not be very popular during Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion season but average-sized totes and weekend bags will. Opt for vibrant hues to stand out of the crowd or neutrals if you want a bag you could accessorize your every look with.

Bag Trend #9:Tiny bags. Women have always loved small bags – they are good for special occasions and look interesting. But are people ready for a bag which is not small but tiny? Whether or not they are, these bags are to be a hit in summer.
